Meet the Swift Temps Gloucester Recruitment Team
Name: Dave Green
Role: Director, Gloucester
Experience & Background
I’ve worked in recruitment for over 25 years. Like many of us, I fell into the industry by accident, quite literally. I walked into a Back-Up recruitment office in Evesham, met one of the Directors, and before I knew it, I was offered an opportunity that turned into a lifelong career.
My specialisms include engineering, manufacturing, warehouse, logistics, and general administration. These sectors are second nature to me now, and I thrive on the pace and the challenge they bring.
One of the most rewarding projects I’ve ever worked on was back in 2012 with Elliott Modular Group. I managed over 30 semi-skilled temporary workers a day for a full year, helping build modular units for the London Olympics. The scale and success of that project are something I still take pride in today.
Before joining Swift Temps, I spent 17 years running my own recruitment business, so I brought with me not just experience, but resilience, commercial know-how, and a deep understanding of what works in this industry.
Expertise & Role at Swift Temps
What I love most about my role is the opportunity to build something, first a branch, and then a region. I’m motivated by growth and thrive in an environment where I can lead from the front.
I help clients and candidates by listening carefully and applying a knowledge-based approach. Understanding the roles, the businesses, and the people behind them helps me deliver real, lasting solutions.
What sets Swift apart from other agencies is our blend of knowledge, experience, and a genuine family feel. We combine big-agency capability with small-agency care.
When it comes to finding the right match, I go beyond the CV. You’ve got to read between the lines, ask the questions others don’t, and be transparent with clients. That’s how trust is built.
Passion for People & Recruitment
What do I think is the most satisfying part of recruitment? Filling vacancies quickly and beating our competitors to the punch. There’s nothing like that win.
Candidate care matters because today’s temp could be tomorrow’s hiring manager. You never know where a candidate’s journey will take them, and if they’ve had a great experience with you, they’ll remember it.
Honesty and transparency are at the heart of every long-term relationship I build. You can’t fake those qualities, and they go a long way in this business.
One of the small but rewarding moments for me is checking candidates in on their first day. It might seem routine, but it’s a milestone in someone’s career and I don’t take that lightly.
Personal Insights
- Proudest professional achievement? Starting my own business in 2007 and running it successfully until 2022. It shaped who I am today.
- If I could swap jobs for a day… I’d take over as the gaffer, just for a spin in his Range Rover!
- What would colleagues say about me? “He’s an awfully nice chap.” And I’d like to think that’s true.
- Tea or coffee? Coffee in the morning to get going, tea in the afternoon to keep going.
- Go-to mood booster? “Good Life” by Inner City. An absolute classic.
- Outside work… I spend most of my free time with my family, especially watching my sons play rugby and football. It keeps me grounded.
